The GTE Is Our Main Fundraiser for funds to support our community

The Great Tack Exchange (GTE) is a great place to shop for New & Used horsey items such as tack, stable & barn supplies, riding apparel, show clothes, horse feed, gift items, trailers and much more. It is a great place for people to sell their un-needed items and there are always Great Bargains. It enables people to buy horse-related items at affordable prices. while helping our organization to fund its service activities in the community. Many people look forward to this annual event, as it is a place to socialize with folks they haven't seen all winter and to meet new friends with the same interest. It seems that the GTE makes many people feel Spring is in the air.

The Warren County Chapter of OHC provides service to Warren County in a variety of ways. Proceeds from the Great Tack Exchange are used to improve & maintain the 30+ miles of bridle trails and the horseman's campground at Caesar Creek State Park as well as, misc community causes & projects, sponsoring many classes at the Warren County Fair's 4-H Horse Show, 4-H Groom n' Clean Contest and other 4-H activities.

The first event was just called "The Tack Sale"  held November 10, 1985 with 20 vendors. Then March 9, 1986 it became "The Great Tack Exchange"  AKA  "GTE"  and has been held on a Sunday of March of each year since.
The Great Tack Exchange grew larger each year with more & more vendors & shoppers, soon outgrowing the building we were in. Then in 1992 we moved to a larger building on the Fairgrounds. In 2005 we had 70 vendors indoor and a dozen outside with more than 2000 people in attendance that day. Each year we get more and more vendors and patrons. We have currently grown to 131 indoor booth spaces.

This is an event you should not miss. Mark it on your calendar!

About The Ohio Horseman's Council

The Ohio Horseman's Council (OHC) is a non-profit organization started in 1972. It is a grass-roots movement of horse people who felt the need for an organization that does not have a breed affiliation or serve private interest. It promotes the interest of the entire horse industry in Ohio and develops a close working relationship among individuals and organizations who recognize the importance of the horse industry to the social and economic well being of Ohio. Over 50 Ohio counties have chapters.

By 1974, OHC was officially incorporated and joined the American Horse Council. There, OHC learned how horsemen in other states solved zoning and bureaucratic problems. To date, there are more public riding areas in Ohio than in all the adjoining states combined.

The Warren County Chapter's OHC membership is represented by all horse people regardless of breed affiliation or style of riding. The group meets eight months of the year on the second Thursday. Our monthly meetings offer the opportunity for local folks with a common interest to share ideas and suggestions along with socially interacting. We also hold trail rides and pot luck dinners, promote and provide building and maintenance of bridle trails.
